Stains--See them or not (they may still be there!)
I was sorting through my own kids' clothing last night and then again today. What a difference the day makes! And I mean the actual light of day. There were a lot of pieces that had stains on them that I just plain did not see last night; furthermore, if I had never gotten around to seeing them in fuller light than what my FROG lights provide, I would have brought them to the Omar that way---YUCK!
Today I washed two medium loads of shirts, sundresses, and shorts hoping that the stains I saw would come out. About 1/2 of the items did! Yeaaaa me! The other half did not. But instead of ironing them, tagging them, and bringing them to the Omar just to have them turned away by a staffer, I will not be bringing them. The stains were not necessarily earth shattering--remember I missed them last night, but they were enough to make me not bring them to the sale.
We hate turning clothing away from consignors who work really hard getting their goods together, doing the tagging, driving there, etc. We all know the effort and commitment it takes to consigning because the three of us consign at CR too. But turn items down we do. So, to save yourself time and effort in preparing items that will be turned down, think through these things:
Does this shirt (skirt/shorts/skort/pants/dress/etc.)
Have a tiny hole? . . . . . . . . don't bring it
Have a tiny/big grease stain? . . . . . don't bring it
Have a button missing? . . . . don't bring it
Have a snap missing? . . . . . don't bring it
Have a tiny/big marker/crayon/lipstick/etc. stain? . . . . . . don't bring it
Have pills/look worn? . . . . . . . . . .don't bring it
Have no stains, no pills, no grease, no stains, no worn spots, nothing missing?
BRING IT!! :)
And please don't be frustrated with sweet staffers if they turn your item/s away. :)
